01/01/07 Now is the winter of my discontent

I have had quite a crisis of faith in the past years. Last year in Rwanda, I’ve seen human kind’s unimaginable capability for absolute evil. This year tried learning to accept the world with the hopeless losing hand that one is often dealt. How can anyone find themselves happy with the world?

But then again, how can anyone be unhappy for long when there is so much beauty too? From the simple yet complex indifference of nature, to the helping hand of a stranger, one just need to look. Isn’t it interesting how belief in unflappable kindness returns? May it be from kindness of friends, or kindness of strangers, mysterious dancing rocks or a symbolic kick in the wrong place… It just takes a little bit of magic. So, as the song goes… do you believe in magic?
