66 Bayard St
New York , NY 10003
Phone: (212) 625-2359

Decent food for decent
price. Live shrimp is good although a bit small. Authentic tasting. I'm sure
you can find better canton food in NY but this one is closer and cheaper to
drive to. But the service make this restaurant to be avoided.

Yummy, I think the food quality is on the
same level as
太湖 above, some dishes are slightly better
and some are worse. The place seems a little run down though. The 蟹肉鱼肚羹 was
a little too fishy... There was a dead shrimp in the 1.5lb shrimp we
ordered. The fried tofu was amazing. sea snails were good. But the thing
that made it really worth it was the chestnut frog legs. Wow!!
Avoid!!!

Last Visit (hoping to forget)
Just awful. Don't go. Horrible food. I can't believe they
claimed that to be Szechwan Food. Don't waste your money. I warned you.
Update: It's been more
than a year since we first visited the place, and I still loss my appetite
when ever I think about that night...
Comments from Zheng,
Shanghai/Philly: I totally agree with you about 真川味 in Philly. Bad service,
bad food! That damn restaurant even put chicken A** in the dish!

It's the best Szechwan restaurant around here. It's a good attempt at
authentic food, but still has short comings. It may be because they're far
from New York but all the food lacks Szechwan pepper. So only hot, but not
spicy. It's not even that hot. But it is the closes we've came to finding a
佳味level
food. On a scale of 0 to 10, 0 being
真川味 and 10 being
佳味, it
has a 8.5. It has two separate menus, one for Chinese, and one for
others. So if you want real food, get the one page menu. BTW as a
comparison,
佳味 has
like a 10 page menu of authentic Chinese food, while this place has 1 page
of semi authentic food.
Comments from Zheng,
Shanghai/Philly: Several
comments about 天福阁 in Philly. I agree with you that it is a very good one.
And it is OK when there are only a few guests in the restaurant. However,
when it is crowded, the SiChuan boss will show his discrimination against
Chinese. Americans will be serviced first, and their food will be cooked
faster, even Chinese come half an hour earlier than Americans.
It closes earily.
her w/o any modificaiton!)

Thanks to Zheng, who told me about this place, this is now my favorite
Szechwan restaurant near Princeton. Since the chief and owner apparently are
the same as
it's not a surprise that the food is similar. The taste is close to
authentic with a few exceptions. They have most of the theory down, just the
execution is a bit off some times. But This along with it's sister store,
are the only Szechwan places that actually had me tasting the food for a
comment, I had to be resort to my old CA self to point out its follies. The
place is great! and easy to get to.
